Selfie; It's all about me Bitches, 2014
Digital

      Why selfies?  I suppose you can paint what you hope  others see, and not what they actually do. Do you think that’s what you look like or is that what you hope others see?...There is a unique psychological thing that takes place when you look into your own eyes and face and paint your own portrait.

A tribute to a beautiful friendship.
Think of your spirit animal as a guardian spirit or spirit guide. It can play the role of protector and provides guidance. It’s like a “personal guide or protector” that has a personal affinity with the person it’s associated with.

Kate for Cancer?, 2012
Pencil, Indian Ink

According to Louis Vuitton – smoking is the coolest, must-have accessory for next season.
-->
Pop Icon Kate Moss is regarded as a fashion prophet and influences people’s fashion choices. Louis Vitton chooses to glamourise smoking as something attractive,
however in real life, there can be an ugly side to smoking. I want to reflects the two sides of this statement. I gave the work a floaty, smokey feel that symbolises the unclear message of this issue. The closed eyes represents peoples ambibelance to smoking as a health issue

Self Portrait, Soft and Hard, 2012
Staples and wire
  -->
Instead of using paint or ink I decided to use hard metal materials such as staples and wire to construct this self portrait in terms of how I have seen myself wearing ‘protective armor’. In reality, the soft feminine image is a sign of my sensitive and empathetic personality. This was a temporary piece; I had to physically remove the staples and wire and clean the wall. This was like me taking off my ‘armor’

Acculturation, 2012
Projector, Finnish- English dictionary
-->
Acculturation explains the process of cultural and psychological change that results following meeting between cultures. When I studied in another country I had to change to understand my new surroundings. Things were different and my approach totally changed towards everything. I started paying a lot of attention towards language in a way I had never done before. I made comparisons to my own Finnish culture. As I focused on language, the culture came with it and I gained a whole new understanding of myself and the differences in cultures. In this piece I used the Finnish dictionary as my hair as a way of showing all the comparisons in my mind, between Finnish and Canadian culture.

Mass production, 2012
Painting on the Wall

TV is raising our society. It allows young viewers, who consume TV to modify behaviour in such a way that they want to stay true to this ´family member´, this technological parent. TV shapes the personalities of young individuals. People become mass produced by visual culture.

Who are we? where do we come from? Why are we here? Where are we going?
Did you know that your life is a contribution of nature? Every person is blessed and fortunate to have a life as it is full of wonderful moments and adventures. As human being we have the chance to enjoy all that nature has to offer. We can either decide to nurture it to our own benefit or destroy it. We are all conected to each other biologically and we are all connected in this universe of energy.
Don't destroy what you came to enjoy. Let's enjoy the richness of cultures and our nature!

Intuition
As a creative person I allow my intuition to guide me. This has played has played a big part in my life, leading me to many beautiful places and situations. That is what this painting is about. The horse symbolizes life and the face is me traveling on its back. The mysterious figure leading the horse is my intuition. The dark ahead is the unknown, the tangent lines is the randomness, the colour and  movement is the magic of it all.

Mental, 2013
Pencil & Watercolor on plywood

Painted during a time of question one’s own mental state, the figure looks scornfully at the devil within. This was a way to confront, confess and reflect on my own weaknesses and insecurities. The result was clarity to appreciate our own identity.

Sale, 2013. – Pencil, watercolour and ink on plywood.

A serious comment on society’s acceptance of women as sexual objects in the cog of the capitalist machine. The mind and body are connected. The naive woman who sells her sexuality also sells her soul.

The 'Never Ending Wallpaper'

With the pervading selfishness of mankind, animals continue to be treated as consumable commodities. This seems to be a never-ending issue and that is the reason behind the composition. The image is cropped as if it is one section of a continuous wall paper of perpetual pattern. The sunglasses and wallpaper communicate the idea of animals as accessories and decoration.
